The 10 common humanity of Buddhism

1."Refugees suffer in many ways, but in some ways what disturbs them most is the feeling that the world has forgotten them, that nobody cares about them or needs them. The way I look at it, they are human beings no different from me."

2. "Shakyamuni was born a prince but renounced his royal upbringing to embark on a spiritual quest to understand how human suffering could be ended. Eventually, while in deep meditation, he experienced a profound awakening, or enlightenment--a deep, encompassing understanding of life and human nature."

3."Buddhism teaches that a universal Law (Dharma) underlies everything in the universe. This is the very essence of life. One could also think of it as the fundamental rhythm of life and the universe."

4."From the Buddhist perspective, given the mind-boggling number of life-forms that fill the universe, human life is rare privilege with special responsibilities. (What makes human life unique is the scale of our choice, the degree to which we are free to choose to act for good or evil, to help or to harm.)"

5. "more positive forms of human interaction and dialogue must be developed if we are to bring out the creative possibilities of this era.
In the Buddhist tradition, dialogue--open and respect-based human interaction--has played a central part in the quest to discover and identify common or universal values that would allow human beings to live in the best, most humane and empowering way."

6. "The Buddhist understanding is that good and evil are innate, inseparable aspects of life. This view makes it impossible to label a particular individual or group as "good" or "evil." Every single human being is capable of acts of the most noble good, or the basest evil."

7. " The Buddhist concept of the "greater self" (Jpn. taiga) provides a framework for the kind of shift in awareness that is necessary to restore the harmony of life on our planet."

8. "The universe, this world and our own lives are the stage for a ceaseless struggle between hatred and compassion, the destructive and constructive aspects of life. Our challenge, moment by moment, is to continue striving to create maximum value and to never be defeated or give up, regardless of the obstacles we may encounter."

9. "It is the simple orientation of our hearts that ultimately determines whether we create societies characterized by joy and dignity or crippled by conflict, fear and despair."

10. "Buddhism begins with individuals deciding to take responsibility for their own lives, first reforming themselves and taking action to improve their immediate surroundings and relations, and then gradually extending their wisdom, courage and compassion into a wider sphere."

The Reflection of this Religion Unit
How the unit has been for me?
My learning?
My challengers?
My achievements?
How my understanding of a faith tradition was deepened?

This unit was a very helpful unit, because it gets me to know and understand more of my religion. The other thing was good about this unit was that I and all other students are get to know all the other different religion in our world. It a very good opportunity for us that get to learn about other religions. Lead to the first symbol which “Sun and the cloud” I had choose. It mean that first my knowledge not as much as what I need to know and it like Sun that not bight because it in the cloud, however the sun come out later to shine because thought out this unit I have learn and understand more what I should know for my religion that I should follow.

In this unit it is very hard was also I very challenging to me as well, because I most of the time I find the information that I found on the internet or book some of the information for very hard for me as a second to understand, so because of my English re not good enough most of the time I have to stop and try very hard to figure it the problem that I have thought out the unit.

The Canaanite Woman’s faith
Matthew 15: 21-28 The Canaanite Woman’s faith
21 Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.’ 23But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, ‘Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.’ 24He answered, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.’ 25But she came and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, help me.’ 26He answered, ‘It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.’ 27She said, ‘Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’ table.’ 28Then Jesus answered her, ‘Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.’ And her daughter was healed instantly.
